Galvanized Steel Plate Coil Production Process, Standards and Applications

Galvanized steel plate coil structures are steel sheets covered with a layer of zinc, made according to the principle of hot-dip galvanizing. It has excellent shielding and protective functions under harsh environmental conditions. It can be said that it is a widely used material in the construction and civil fields, such as the frames of electronic equipment, household appliances, and mechanical casings.

The Steps for Producing Galvanized Steel Plate Coil

Based on the information gathered, galvanized steel plate coils are made from galvanized cold-rolled steel. They go through the following 4 steps:

Step 1: Thoroughly clean the surface.

Step 2: After cleaning, treat it with a NOF furnace to alter the properties of the steel.

Step 3: Then, it undergoes wet or hot-dip galvanizing according to the principle of hot-dip galvanizing.

Step 4: Finally, cover the surface with a layer of chromium or nickel to protect it from oxidation.

What Are the Standards for Galvanized Steel Plate Coils?

Galvanized steel plate coils have many actual applications. Specifically, there are the following standards for galvanized steel plate coil:

Coils

These steel sheets have a smooth surface and good corrosion resistance. They are used in processing and manufacturing, crafts, or the production of corrugated sheets, among other areas. This type of steel sheet typically needs to meet the following: technical parameters:

  • Steel sheet thickness: 0.2-3.2 mm

  • Steel sheet width: 400 mm-1800 mm

  • Inside diameter of the steel coil: 508-610 mm

  • Maximum weight of the steel coil: 20 tons

Corrugated

Specifically, these are galvanized steel plate coils rolled into corrugated shapes, with rich styles and sizes. Below are the standards that this type of steel sheet needs to meet:

Average thickness: 0.16-1.2 mm

Width:

  • 5-wave steel sheet: 1.1 m

  • 7-wave steel sheet: 0.82 m

  • 9-wave steel sheet: 1.07 m

  • 13 waves or round-shaped steel sheet: 1.10 m

Sheets

This is a product of externally galvanized steel sheets. Most of the thickness of the zinc layer varies according to the usage purpose to ensure good durability and lifespan.

It is understood that this type of steel has more special properties due to its ease of bending, softness, and smoothness. They usually meet the following standards:

Galvanized steel plate coil thickness: 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, etc., up to a maximum of 400 mm.

Steel sheet width: 750 mm, 1000 mm, 1250 mm, 1500 mm, 1800 mm, 2000 mm, 2400 mm, 3000 mm, 3800 mm.

Steel sheet length: 6000 mm, 7000 mm, 8000 mm, 10000 mm, 11000 mm, 12000 mm, or can be cut to length as needed.

Application Areas for Galvanized Steel Plate Coil

Talking about galvanized steel plate coil products, their application areas are very wide, including but not limited to the following:

In the construction field

used for making building roof panels, partitions, and drainage channels, etc.

In the electronic and electrical appliance industry

products are used in the processing and manufacturing of electronic equipment, such as computers, washing machines, rice cookers, electrical box casings, etc.

In the machinery industry

Steel sheets are used to produce various parts and equipment to protect internal components, such as motorcycles, cars, airplanes, etc.

In the advertising field

products are used to make signboards and billboards. In addition, they are also essential materials for making roller shutters, safes, and other household items.
